Good Call Apache - I have a poster (bought it on EBAY) on the wall of my office showing a new '86 Savage selling for $1999 US (call it 3000 Canadian)- or about half of what the cost currently. And of course that is 6099 plus GST and PST - not much left of 7 big ones

Isn't inflation interesting - add 15 years and one gear and the prices doubles+++!

It would be interesting to have a look in the Suzuki Engineering files to see what technical changes have been incorporated over the years. The open springs on the front end are gone - the kill switch on the side stand was added - fifth gear of course - likely the entire gear set was re-engineered when that was added. I suspect there really hasn't been much else - the lean carb settings issue appears on all models so that seems to be original as does backfiring and bluing exhaust pipes. Maybe the gel pad seat is a newer addition - but that is an extra cost accessory. The vacuum activated fuel selector tap appears to be a common "feature" as well

Tha price will definitely help with keeping the rubber side down
